Off the Record with Johann Iivanainen & Johanna Kurkela of Altamullan Road

Back in 2020, the world was graced with the debut album by Altamullan Road—made up of Johanna Iivanainen and Johanna Kurkela—which, if you’re anything like me, was a genuine gift. Even more fun, if you’re a fan of the band, you might have heard of Kathy Criswell and her self-proclaimed one-woman Altamullan Road street team, as well as her road (and air!) trip here to see the band perform their first-ever show in front of a live audience (as well as a couple more)! There’s something truly special and magical about these two women who absolutely adore one another, making magical music, while also spreading nothing less that beautiful positivity throughout the world.

So, when Kathy and the other Altamullan Toads came from all over the world to see their tour in January, which was sadly delayed by the pandemic back in 2020, it seemed like the perfect time to catch up with them Off the Record, to see what’s new and to ask about the new and improved tour, their musical relationship, and their wonderful influence on the greater world around them. If you’re wondering who asks the question, “What were you made for?” in the interview—that’s Kathy!

Thanks for checking it out, and please do the usual subs and shares if you want to see more of these in the future! And if you’d like to hear more about the tour, check the Read More links down below!
