Off the Record with Tuomas Holopainen of Nightwish

When August rolled around, the local journalists and bloggers of Finland, myself included, received our long-awaited invites to the pre-listening session and promo days for the new Nightwish album, “Yesterwynde.” The good news for me was that I was still invited, despite not working for a media anymore! The bad news was that the press days coincided with me working at Dark River Festival, so I wasn’t able to attend (or, well, I could have but it would have been an enormous hassle for me and would have been very inconvenient for my coworkers). Fortunately for me, however, Tuomas Holopainen was willing to make other arrangements while I was in town.

We had an amazing talk looking back at the band’s history, the power and magic of art, how his band inspires him, and how life led to this new release!
