Off the Record with Anniina Lotvonen & Tomi Raikaslehto of Vies Vignette

Towards the end of 2024, I was gig-hopping around Helsinki. I had just gotten interested in Johanna von Hertzen and her music, so when I realized she was playing at Hard Rock House Roihuvuori, I went to see her set. Her band was performing as the jatkoklubi [“after club”] for another show that night, featuring Saaga and Vies Vignette. I hadn’t expected there to be another whole act that night, so I only caught two of their songs, but I was deeply impressed by their vocalist’s effortless sound and by the overall feel of their music. I went home and checked out their debut album, “Among & Around,” and included it in my Missed Albums from 2023 article. 

Some time later, the band caught on to my intrigue and asked if I’d be interested in interviewing them. Since I do have a fondness for doing get-to-know-you interviews with fresh bands, I was all for it. Since they’re not based locally, it took us a while to arrange it, but when I discovered that they were playing at Love Potion Club—another musaklubi [music club] that I’m fond of, I asked if we could squeeze it in then and Anniina Lotvonen and Tomi Raikaslehto were able to oblige!
